(ROANOKE) The funeral for Tempie Cantrell Mitchell, 80, of Roanoke will be Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Highway Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Jason Owens and Bro. Eric Lester officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday 25 before services begin.
Mrs. Mitchell died Sunday, Aug. 23, at her residence.
A Woodland native, Mrs. Mitchell was born June 11, 1940, the daughter of Major Emory and Winnie Fincher Cantrell. She was a member of Highway Congregational Methodist Church and worked as a seamstress for Fashion Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Mitchell Hall of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Tyler Hall, Nicole Hall Bochette and Kayla Ledbetter Folsom; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Winnette Hitson of Carrollton, Ga.; and three brothers, James K. Cantrell of Valley, Major E. Cantrell Jr. of Wadley, and Donnie Cantrell of Carrollton. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Mitchell; daughter, Juanita Ledbetter; and several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be James K. Cantrell, Major Cantrell Jr., Donnie Cantrell, Tyler Hall, Wade Bochette and Danny Cantrell. Honorary pallbearer will be Nolen Lindsey.
