Gail Marie Boyd

(SPRINGFIELD, S.C.) The funeral for retired Staff Sgt. Gail Marie Boyd, 72, of Springfield, S.C., will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, in Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, S.C., with the Rev. Timothy Barr officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Williston.

Gail passed away Saturday, Dec. 25.

Born in Sendai, Honshu, Japan, she was a daughter of the late Lawdy Douglas and Cordie Marie Slagle Douglas. Gail was a U.S. Army veteran, retiring as an administrative specialist. She was a member of Dean Swamp Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #172, Columbia, S.C. Gail's favorite accomplishment was being a mother and a "MawMaw." She enjoyed life to the fullest, loved listening to music and traveling to the mountains, and was an avid on-line shopper.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Lee "Dickie" Boyd Sr. of Springfield; son, Shane Robinson (Shannon) of Charleston, S.C.; daughter, Jody Boyd of Swansea, S.C.; grandchildren, Jayla Kay Boyd and Jackson Lee Boyd; sister, Holly Exum (Jason) of Roanoke, Ala.; nieces and nephews, Jestin Gosdin, Ashley Culbertson (Grant), Eddie Howard, Penny Ivylynn Exum, Allen Exum and Sebastain Exum. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Lee Boyd Jr.; sister, Teresa Leatherwood; and sister-in-law, Cathie Boyd Fogle.
