(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Rosebud Bennett Sanford Carson, 93, of Roanoke will be Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Bethany Lime Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Stanley Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday. Mrs. Carson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
Mrs. Carson died Monday, July 29, at Traylor's Retirement Community.
A lifelong Roanoke resident, Mrs. Carson was born Oct. 31, 1925, the daughter of Charles Homer and Mary Lou Smith Bennett. She was a member of Bethany Lime Congregational Christian Church and had worked as a seamstress.
Survivors include two nieces, Betty Jo Burdette of Cragford and Donna Dudley of Albuquerque, N.M.; two nephews, Roger Bennett of Woodland and James Dudley of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Vernon Dudley of Albuquerque; and special friend and caregiver, Sara Drummond of Roanoke. Mrs. Carson was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Stanley Sanford and James Carson; two brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Burdette, Buck Norred, Greg Benefield, Chuck Thompson, Gene Adamson and Roger Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Hugh Benefield, Jimmy Dunn and Ralph Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Bethany Lime Congregational Methodist Church (1524 County Rd. 20, Roanoke, AL 36274).
