(ROANOKE) Felita Eulette Ware, 51, of Roanoke passed away Saturday afternoon, Aug. 28, 2021.
Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel, Wedowee.
The funeral will be Monday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at New Life Worship Center in Roanoke. Ms. Ware will lie in state beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be at East Roanoke Cemetery.
Felita, affectionately known as "LeeLee," was born July 3, 1970, in Roanoke to the late Ernest S. Bell Jr. and the late Jo Francis Ware. She was a 1988 graduate of Handley High, where she was a member of the band and other student organizations. She served honorably in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Specialist (E-4). Felita was a Gulf War veteran, serving in Operation Desert Storm. She also attended South University. She was a faithful member of New Life Worship Center, serving as secretary of Christian education empowerment, armor bearer to First Lady Juanita Wright, and lead of the hospitality committee.
She is survived by her sister, Rhonda of Roanoke; brother, Gregory of Morgan, Ga.; cousins raised as brothers, Dewayne Winston (Tracy) of San Antonio, Texas, and Thelvie Winston (Carla) of Stockbridge, Ga.; host of nieces and nephews, including Corrie Winston, Marqueta Wright and Sereathan Johnson, all of Roanoke, and Marcus Ware of Washington, D.C.; former husband, Willie Whitaker; other family and friends. Preceding her in death was her aunt, Helen Ware Winston, who raised her as one of her own.
