(WEDOWEE) The funeral for Jack Rogers Lyner, 80, of Wedowee will be Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel, 17624 HWY 431 Wedowee, Alabama with Dr. Steve Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow at Morrison's Chapel Cemetery, 3865 County Road 29 Wedowee AL.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mr. Lyner died Wednesday, Nov. 27, at his residence.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Lyner was born Aug. 17, 1939, the son of Thomas and Minnie Rye Hood Lyner. He was a member of Morrison's Chapel Church, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict, where he earned a Bronze Star and retired with more than 20 years of service, and worked as a mechanic for Rankin Brothers.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, one son, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers. Mr. Lyner was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one half-brother.
