(ROANOKE) A graveside service for Modene W. French, 87, of Roanoke will be Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Randolph Memory Gardens with the Rev. Josh Hickman officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning before services begin.

Mrs. French passed away Monday, Sept. 13, in Clay County.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. French was born Aug. 11, 1934, the daughter of Clarence and Hannie Kirby Williamson. She was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church and worked as a secretary for Stevenson Insurance in Roanoke.

Survivors include her daughter, Suncelia Stewart (Steve) of Wedowee; two sons, Travis Nelson (Debbie) of Morrison's Crossroads and Stanley French Jr. (Nell) of Millbrook; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two nieces. Mrs. French was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W.S. French Sr.; and sister, Ellowayne Prather.
