(ROANOKE) A graveside service for Charlie Amos Rowland, 73, of Roanoke will be Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Skyview Memorial Gardens in the Welch community with Ministers Steve Joiner, Luther Phillips and Keith Nolan and Bro. Clarence Hatcher officiating.
Mr. Rowland died Tuesday, Feb. 2, at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.
Mr. Rowland was born in Roanoke on Feb. 13, 1947, to the late Calvin Sr. and Beatrice Smith Rowland. He was a lifelong member of East Roanoke Pure Holiness Church of God. Charlie worked in the grocery industry, serving as assistant to the late John Frank Burdette and later at Winn-Dixie.
He is survived by sons, Willie Weaver (Arlene) of Waldorf, Md., Leonard Weaver of Roanoke and Kenneth Weaver of Troy, N.Y.; daughters, Priscilla Guzman (Jose) of Columbia, S.C., Evelyn Staples of Roanoke, Tammy Butler (Lavelle) of Toledo, Ohio, and Charlene Rowland of Birmingham; brothers, Calvin (Beverly) of Birmingham and Stanley (Jennifer), Kenneth, Wayne (Candy), Samuel (Deborah) and Thomas (Linda), all of Roanoke; sisters, Evelyn, Rhonda, Monica and Teresia, all of Roanoke; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosa Lee Traylor Rowland; and brother, Ernest General Rowland (Lela Mae).
