(GREENSBORO, Ga.) Dorothy Jeanette Denney Gentry, 87, of Greensboro, Ga. (formerly of Franklin, Ga.), passed away Feb. 8, 2021.
Her funeral will be Friday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. EST in the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with the Rev. R.L. Brazeal officiating. Interment will follow in Veal Community Cemetery.
The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Friday from 10 to 11 am. prior to the service.
Mrs. Gentry was born May 25, 1933, in Cleburne County to the late Lee Denney and Ary Butler Denney. She was a Baptist by faith and attended Ephesus Baptist Church when she lived in Heard County, Ga. She devoted her life to the care of the home. Many summers were spent canning and preserving the harvest from the family garden. She loved to cook. The holidays were her favorite time to gather the family for a home-cooked meal with ham, dressing and all the fixings. For dessert the family's favorite was her coconut cake.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Jeanette Gentry of Roanoke; two sons, Donald Edward Gentry (Teressa) of Crawfordville, Ga., and Rickie Lee Gentry (Sharon) of Ft. Payne; five grandchildren, Forrest Gentry, Gretchen Faulkner, Tina Gentry, George Ross and Paul Gentry; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Coleman and Sarah Mapp; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Gentry, three sisters and two brothers.
