(ROANOKE) The funeral for Herbert Wayne Clark, 81, of Roanoke will be Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Rickey Cannon and Bro. Jamie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Clacksville.
The family will receive friends at the church beginning at noon on Thursday.
Mr. Clark died Saturday, Oct. 10, at Regional Medical Center.
A Chambers County native, Mr. Clark was born Aug. 15, 1939, the son of James Alfonso and Eleanor Sue East Clark. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and chairman of the deacon board. He also oversaw the cemeteries at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and at New Hope Cemetery in Clacksville. Mr. Clark served as assistant chief of Mt. Olive Fire Department in Chambers County for over 30 years. He was employed in maintenance at Uniroyal in Opelika for 22-1/2 years and worked in construction and as a bulldozer operator.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Allen Clark of Roanoke; daughter, Salena Holloway of Roanoke; son, Mike Clark (Audrey Lynn) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Jon-Micheal Clark (Courtney), Caleb Clark (Mary Beth), Colby Holloway and Jurnee Holloway (Tyler Henderson); great-grandchildren, Wheeler Clark, Samuel Clark, Waylon Henderson and Haddon Clark; and sister, Hattie Mae Langley (J.T.) of Auburn. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents and son, James Robert "Jimmy" Clark.
Pallbearers will be Kent Wilson, Bob Johnson, Chance Cofield, Chris Taylor, Doug Matthews and Barry Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be fire department personnel.
