At a called meeting of Randolph County Economic Development Authority board of directors on Monday, the board voted to place director Bryant Whaley on administrative leave with pay.

According to Chairman Rod Hineman, the meeting was mostly held in executive session. After a lengthy session, a motion was made by Vice-Chairman Jared Kirby to place Whaley on leave based on four factors. On the vote, all members voted in favor with one member abstaining.

According to Hineman, the four factors of the motion included:

  1. Submit any notes to the Alabama Ethics Commission in reference to complaints about Whaley.
  2. To place the executive director on leave with pay until there is a response from the Alabama Ethics Commission.
  3. To form a committee to find out more about the complaints about the executive director.
  4. To forward any Randolph County Development Authority inquiries, letters or communications to Hineman.

Hineman said he would have no further comment at this time.
