TILLER'S CROSSROADS - A former Wadley High School student died Sunday in an ATV accident in northwest Chambers County.

According to reports, Holden Messer, 17, of the Ripville community was the driver of an ATV that apparently went off County Road 62 in a curve and overturned, throwing Messer from the vehicle. He died at the scene.

Holden was a junior at Chambers Academy in LaFayette, where he was a member of the football team. He had attended Wadley High School from kindergarten through ninth grade and also played football at Wadley.

The accident happened at approximately 12:26 a.m. near the intersection with County Road 119 in the Tiller's Crossroads area.

The accident is under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Benefit concert

A live musical performance by The Wild Knights will be from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, at Farm Boy's Restaurant in downtown Roanoke. The restaurant will also have an all-you-can eat buffet of crawfish and shrimp boil with corn on the cob and sides for $15. All proceeds will go to Holden's family.
