WADLEY - At Monday night's meeting of Wadley Town Council, the 2020 audit for the town was presented by Machen McChesney LLPl.
According to Mayor Donna McKay, the audit went well, and finances for the town look good. The council will study the report and will vote to approve at next month's meeting.
Meeting time change
Mayor McKay stated the council's next regular meeting will be held on Monday, March 1, at 5 p.m. "We will meet at 5 starting next month and keep meetings at that time for a while. We will see what the council wants to do at our March meeting."
Municipal debris removal
The council agreed to participate in the Municipal Debris Removal Program. According to statistics, debris removal after natural disasters can run into the millions of dollars. Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation has developed a program to help offset some of the cost of debris removal. The town would, along with other cities and towns, contribute an annual set amount to the program fund, and those funds would reimburse a portion of the cost for debris removal. The council approved participating in the program.
In other business, the council:
- Approved a contribution in the amount of $750 to Randolph County Economic Development Authority.
- Tabled a request for a donation to Randolph County Historical Museum until further information can be obtained.
- Welcomed Trey Moore as a new officer of Wadley Police Department.
