Thefts

A complainant reported that on Nov. 13 he was rabbit hunting with his hunting dog, which was wearing a GPS collar. When he did not come back, the hunter tracked him to a residence on County Road 856, which is off of Louina Road. The occupants of the house said the dog came onto their property, so they had a right to bring him inside - even though the dog's owner was calling for him. The owner said he could tell the dog was trying to leave because of the tone of the collar and its vibrations. He did get his dog back, but not the GPS collar.

A silver 2003 Honda Civic was reported stolen on Nov. 13 from a residence on County Road 329 in the Swagg area.

A resident of County Road 131 near Welcome Home Church reported on Nov. 13 that suspects have attempted to break into his shed three times recently to steal his ATV and tools.

A 5x9 orange U-Haul ramp trailer was reported stolen on Nov. 9 from Highway 431 in Wedowee.

A break-in was reported on Nov. 7 on 13301 County Road 33 near the landfill.

Counterfeit money

An employee of Dollar General on Highway 48 in the Ofelia community reported that on Nov. 13 a black male came into the store and purchased a Visa debit card. He paid with five $100 bills and one $50 bill. Even though the bills passed the marker test, they turned out to be counterfeit.
