FOSTER'S CROSSROADS - A Foster's Crossroads man was the victim of an accidental gunshot wound early Monday when he was attempting to clean a pistol.

According to the report from Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Gabino Gonzales, 49, of County Road 7 attempted to unload the 25-caliber weapon to clean it, but a round was stuck in the gun. Gonzales was trying to get the bullet out and had it pointed toward himself when it went off, striking him in the mouth and neck.

He was responsive and was taken to Tanner East Alabama Medical Center by ambulance and then transferred to UAB.
