The home of Trooper Coty Brown and his family was destroyed by fire on Wednesday morning of last week.

The residence on Foster's Cove Drive in the Foster's Crossroads area was fully engulfed when responders arrived. Brown, 34, told responders he believes it started on the front porch while he was in the shower.

Two vehicles also sustained minor damages, a Yukon and Brown's patrol vehicle. Brown is familiar to many residents as a marine police officer on Lake Wedowee.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the young family.

Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department was able to save a house at 767 Reed Circle when a fire started Monday evening.

A neighbor reported the fire when flames were visible at the rear of the house, coming from the kitchen. Two police officers with fire extinguishers entered there and put out the flames inside.

However, the fire was still present on the outside. When firefighters arrived, they were able to put out the rest of the fire.

The homeowner was not present, but was identified by 911 as being listed to Doris Thompson.

On Monday night, a fire destroyed a home at 459 County Road 451 near Prospect Church.

Michelle Roseann Vasser, 39, told responders she built a fire in the fireplace, and it got out and set the house on fire. The home was fully engulfed when responders arrived.
