NAPOLEON - On Friday of last week, deputies answered a call to the 100 block of County Road 625 in the Napoleon area where a tenant found several of her animals killed.

The tenant said they were in the process of moving out, and the landlord had threatened to do something to their cats and dogs. On Friday the tenant discovered nine cats and one dog that had been killed at the residence.

On Saturday, deputies aided the Greater Birmingham Humane Society with the rescue of several animals that were still at the residence. The landlord, Terry Michael Bennett, was present at the residence on Saturday, and after investigation and consultation with the District Attorney's Office, Mr. Bennett was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.

This case is still under investigation. Randolph County Sheriff's Office is thankful for the Greater Birmingham Humane Society and their assistance with this case.
