WEDOWEE - On a recommendation made by Mayor Tim Coe and a unanimous vote by the council, Pam Traylor Johnson was approved as the new council member replacing former council member Brenda Boone, who resigned at the last regular meeting.
Boone and her husband are moving out of the city limits. Johnson will represent District 2 until elections are held next year. Johnson has been a teacher for 31 years and is currently teaching in Georgia. After being sworn in by Mayor Coe, Johnson took her seat with the other council members and began voting on agenda items.
In other business, the council:
- Renewed the contract with Air Evac/Air Med in the amount of $4,000. This covers every citizen in the city limits in the event they have to be flown out of Randolph County.
- Held a brief discussion about a Fall Fun Day to be held on the same Saturday as Crafts on the Median in October. The Fun Day would take place after the crafts show and would be held at French Park. The council will discuss more details later.
