WEDOWEE - Wedowee Town Council met on Tuesday of last week at city hall with Mayor Tim Coe and all council members in attendance. The meeting was held with council members and the mayor seated at least 6 feet apart to observe the 6-foot rule as mandated by the state.

Coe stated city hall remains closed to public traffic. "We are asking the public to conduct as much business as they can by phone or online," Coe said. "The city maintenance buildings, utilities office and police department are still closed as are the playgrounds at French Park and the senior center. We ask the public to be patient and let's see what Gov. Kay Ivey is going to do. I have no control over any facilities or businesses."

The mayor did note that meals for senior citizens are being delivered.

In a related matter, Coe told the council the town is on the way to having a great year financially. "We are just going to have to wait how this shutdown has affected us."

In other business, the council approved a grant application to be used for improvements on the sewer lagoon system.
