A Florida man was arrested by Roanoke Police Department last week after allegedly stealing from his girlfriend's family.

According to the report, Jose Fernando Peadia, 28, of Homestead is charged with third-degree forgery, fourth-degree theft of property and unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle.

Peadia is alleged to have taken his girlfriend's vehicle without permission. He was involved in a wreck, and at that time he was in possession two checks belonging to his girlfriend's father. The family also found money missing from a safe and items missing from the father's vehicle. The suspect later returned to the family's residence and was trying to get into the wrecked vehicle. At that time, two more stolen checks were found to be in his possession.
