WEDOWEE - In a meeting on Tuesday of last week, Wedowee Town Council approved the budget for 2020-2021.

Mayor Tim Coe said revenues were good during the summer even with the pandemic. He said, "I think most people shopped locally instead of going out of town."

The new budget shows projected revenues of $1,710,800 with projected expenses of $1,628,150. The surplus of the budget is projected to be $82,650.

In other business, the council:

  • Approved trick-or-treating from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday night, Oct. 31. The council urges social distancing, small groups and children to wear masks.
  • Discussed the annual Christmas parade. A date will be determined, and as it stands, there will be no candy thrown from vehicles, there must be social distancing and masks must be worn. These guidelines are subject to change.
