WEDOWEE - Wedowee Town Council voted to help out with the annual Randolph County Volunteer Firefighters' Association banquet.

At the council meeting on Tuesday evening of last week, Mayor Tim Coe said the town had received a request from the Randolph County Volunteer Firefighters' Association. He said the annual banquet for the association is coming up, and the town was requested to make a donation. He said since Wedowee Fire Department is a member of the association, the town could legally make a donation. It was agreed by all council members to make a $100 donation.

In other business, the mayor and council discussed the upcoming League of Municipalities Convention. Each council member is to decide if they want to attend and let the city clerk know so she can make reservations.

Councilman A.J. Sims was in attendance at the meeting after an extended absence due to sickness. "I want to say it's good to be back. and I so much appreciate the prayers during my sickness and hospital stay. It's been a long road back. but I thank you for everything."
