Randolph Count Rescue Squad

Responders from Randolph County Rescue Squad and Sheriff's Office, Emergency Medical Transport and others gathered at a location near the Roanoke Landfill this weekend to search for a man who had been living in the woods for two weeks in a tent, but had become lost without food or water. Richard Lee Phillips, 53, of Roanoke called 911 on Saturday. Randolph County E-911 traced where the ping from his dying cell phone was coming from to help the first responders. The search was suspended on Saturday night, but Phillips was found Sunday at about 6:40 a.m. with the help of a drone and was taken to the emergency room.
