WEDOWEE - Wedowee Town Council held the first of two public hearings during their meeting last week concerning a grant application for repairs and improvements to the city's sewer system.
According to Mayor Tim Coe, the work will cost an estimated $1,009, 230. It is not known at this time when and if the grant will be approved. The second hearing was held on June 22.
The council approved the city hall as the polling location for the upcoming municipal election. The poll hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Qualifying for candidates will be July 7-21. The election will be on Tuesday, Aug. 25. Absentee voting will be from the last day of qualifying up to election day.
Family Fun Day
The town is moving forward with plans for Family Fun Day to be held in October at French Park. "We will move forward with the plans until we are told not to," said Mayor Tim Coe. The council approved member Pam Traylor Johnson as a chairman of the event. It was agreed all vendors will be allowed this year and different bands and music groups will play throughout the day. More details will be released as they become available.
