A Roanoke man was arrested Saturday on arson charges.
Robert Lamar Hendricks, 34, of 315 Government St., is charged with first-degree arson, second-degree arson, possession of amphetamines and resisting arrest.
Roanoke Police Department received a call about him walking down Wilkie Clark Drive with a gas can. They then received a call that a vehicle and a house there had been set on fire. Officer Kirby put out the vehicle fire with his fire extinguisher. Roanoke Fire Department also responded and made sure the fires were out.
While on that they scene, they received another call around the corner at Dude's Sports Grill on Old LaFayette Highway. Roanoke VFD put the fire out before it spread into the building.
Hendricks was found walking down Government Street with a long-bladed knife in his hand. When he refused to stop for officers, he was tased and then checked out by EMTs. While being checked for more weapons, the suspect admitted there were drugs in his pocket, which field-tested as methamphetamine.
He was transported to Randolph County Jail, where he caused another disturbance and received the added charge of trespassing at a prison
