WEDOWEE - High school seniors and their parents throughout Clay and Randolph counties will be able to get one-on-one help with resumes, scholarships, FAFSA and interview tips at the Next Steps to College and Career Event on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Randolph County High School auditorium from 6 to 8 p.m. Regional businesses will also be in attendance to let students know about job opportunities. Numerous door prizes will be available from businesses in the Clay and Randolph county area.
Community leaders and college representatives will be there to help students with recommendations for resumes, helping to find scholarships, assisting them to fill out financial aid for college (FAFSA) and giving interview advice to students. The auditorium will be divided into four sections, and students will go to the area they need assistance. However, students and parents will be encouraged to go to each area.
Regional businesses will let students be aware of part-time and full-time job opportunities since students will decide if they want to go to work directly after high school or further their education and work part time. Students are encouraged to bring their resume. Several handouts will be available for students and parents concerning each topic at the event. Students who need assistance with filling out financial aid should bring their Social Security number and tax documents.
