At a called meeting last week, Roanoke City School Board approved the low bid for the construction of a STEM lab at Handley Middle School.

Superintendent Greg Foster said the school system had received three bids for the project. The board approved a bid of $989,000 from Headley Construction of Newnan, Ga. Construction on the lab should began soon.

In other business, the board approved:

  • Pam Veal as nutrition worker at Knight-Enloe Elementary School, Terra Banks as nutrition worker at HMS and Brook Brown as nutrition worker at Handley High School.
  • the transfer of Porsha Cameron from HMS secretary to elementary teacher at KES.
