FRANKLIN, Ga. - Authorities have identified the deceased remains of a woman found by the side of a Heard County, Ga., road near the Alabama line.
Heard County Sheriff Ross Henry has identified the woman as 47-year-old Regina Lynn Trotter to a reporter with The Anniston Star newspaper this week.
Trotter's body was spotted on the side of Mason Road, which is located in the western central part of Heard County and situated approximately 1/2 mile from the Alabama/Georgia State line on Monday, Feb. 1, just before noon. This area is east of the Randolph County's Big Springs community.
Her death has been ruled a homicide, but Sheriff Henry declined to comment to the Star on the manner of death.
The funeral for Trotter was held Feb. 8 with Dryden Funeral Home of Heflin handling the arrangements. She was a native of Florida and a resident of the Heflin/Cleburne County area for most of her life.
Heard County and Cleburne County authorities are investigating, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
