Roanoke School Board met in a called meeting last Wednesday afternoon to fill some vacancies before the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

The board approved the following actions:

Accepted the resignations of:

  • Greg Foster from his position as principal at Handley High School, effective July 10, 2020.
  • Elizabeth Costley from her position as a first-grade teacher at Knight-Enloe Elementary, effective June 30.
  • Kenya Foster from her position as a special ed aide at Knight-Enloe Elementary, effective June 25.

They approved the following new hires:

  • Caitlin Kelley as first-grade teacher at Knight-Enloe Elementary, effective Aug. 6.
  • Barry Simmons as physical education teacher/coach at Handley Middle School, effective Aug. 6.
  • Tonya O'Neal as child nutrition worker at Handley Middle School, effective Aug. 6.
  • Erin Vickers as guidance office secretary at Handley High School, effective Aug. 6.
  • LaShaun Joiner as child nutrition worker at Handley High School, effective Aug. 6.
  • Taylor Mathews as pre-K auxiliary teacher at Knight-Enloe Elementary, effective Aug. 6.
  • Twana Dozier as special education aide at Knight-Enloe Elementary, effective Aug. 6.

The board will hold another meeting to hire any other additional personnel needed and to discuss the upcoming school year.
