A public hearing was held during Monday's Roanoke City Council meeting regarding the potential rezoning of a home near Mount Pisgah Baptist Church on Highway 22 West in Roanoke.

An issue arose when the home near the church was being renovated. The home was purchased and renovated, and the owner desires to lease it as a multifamily duplex. Some members of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church do not want this to take place; therefore, a rezoning is being proposed.

Council members did not come to a unanimous vote concerning the rezoning, and the issue will be brought up again at the next meeting where only a majority vote must be met.
