WOODLAND - The Town of Woodland celebrate the groundbreaking for a new Family Dollar store on Friday morning of last week.
Mayor Scott Carter said, "The Town of Woodland and the Woodland Community are excited about the new Family Dollar coming to town. This will benefit a lot of people in our surrounding area in supplying the everyday items that currently we have to travel 10 to 15 miles to get."
This spring it was announced that the store would be built at the corner of County Road 59 and Highway 48. Family Dollar traded Randolph County Hospital Authority other property to get this property. The company also paid to move the emergency helipad from the location.
Carter said the town had been actively seeking the interest of a retail dollar store for many years and appreciates Family Dollar investing in the community.
"Jamie Golomb and Golomb Development LLC have been wonderful to work with," said Mayor Carter. "We met with Jamie and his group, along with Dr. Jeff Stewart and Bill Caypless of Randolph County Healthcare Authority, back in the early spring. After a few months of negotiations and planning here we are today."
