WOODLAND - During Woodland's town council meeting on Monday, the council was disappointed to learn that a possible Dollar General site was approved in Graham rather than Woodland. The council hopes something can be done to get the Dollar General in Woodland instead.

In other business the council:

  • Gave an update on the upcoming Vern Fest/Concert. There are three tables left, and if anyone or any business is interested, you may call Woodland Town Hall.
  • Learned the town's fireworks show was a huge success. There was an estimate that between 800 to 1,000 people showed up for the event.
  • Discussed the possibility of upcoming water pipe maintenance on Woodland Drive.
  • Discussed the town's upcoming sidewalk project. Right now, it's scheduled for January and will take about five to six weeks to complete.
  • Noted that on July 20, the Woodland High School Band will have a car wash at the fire department.
