A Roanoke mother was transported by helicopter to Grady Hospital in Atlanta on Thursday morning of last week after being stabbed with a kitchen knife by her son.

Denzel Kelley, 23, of 447 Randolph St., is charged with second-degree domestic violence and aggravated assault (attempted murder) in the stabbing of 47-year-old Annie Kelley. Ms. Kelley's injuries are life-threatening.

Mr. Kelley's 14-year-old sister was also injured while trying to protect their mother, but her injuries are not life-threatening.
