Qualifying for municipal offices began July 7 and ended July 21 at their respective city halls. The elections for mayors and council members will be Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The following candidates have qualified so far:
In Roanoke -
Mike Fisher (incumbent), Jill Patterson, Micah Farr, Barry Johnson and Kelly W. Phillips for mayor;
Tammi Holley (incumbent)council member in District 1;
Mack Arthur Bell (incumbent) and John Frank Houston for council member in District 2;
Bronwyn Bishop (incumbent) and Jackie Lee Brown for council member of District 3;
Mike Parmer (incumbent) for council member of District 4; and
Terry "Smokey" Cole (incumbent), Kathy Seymour and Kesa Johnston for council member of District 5.
In Wedowee -
Incumbent Tim Coe, John Traylor and Jordan McCormick have qualified for mayor;
Elizabeth Knight (incumbent) for council member in District 1;
Pam Johnson (incumbent) for council member in District 2;
Brian Cross (incumbent) and Jerry Huddleston for council member in District 3;
Andrew Sims (incumbent) for council member in District 4; and
Willie Maude Brown (incumbent) for council member in District 5.
Incumbent Donna McKay has qualified for mayor, and
incumbents Mattie Staples and Linda Briones have qualified for town council, District 1.
Jim Hall, Michael Brown and Matthew Allen have qualified for town council in District 2.
Mayor Scott Carter has qualified for reelection.
Kenneth Goode, Fred Lovvorn, Buddy Holloway and Jason Meadows have qualified as council member candidates.
