Old hospital

The former Randolph Medical Center on Highway 22 has been purchased and is being converted into a great resource for the community.

A 501(c)3 titled Grace Outreach has purchased the facility and is in the process of building it into something that will help real people in crisis. Grace Outreach plans to develop a homeless shelter (which is currently housing a small number of men already), a Christ-centered addiction recovery program, family night support groups, a faith-based next-step program for parolees and probationers, a thrift store, and a swap shop trading post.

The 501(c)3 states, "Our heart is to serve the least and the lost. We know this will be a great task, but we serve a great God and are surrounded by a wonderful and supportive community." This group plans to take in individuals and provide them with the help they need. Grace Outreach is part of an overarching ministry called Rescue Mission of Grace, which covers four separate ministries including Gospel Light Ministry, Helping Lazarus Community Ministry, Grace Outreach Ministry, and Grace Prison & Jail Ministry. Helping Lazarus is located in Temple, Ga., and Grace Prison & Jail Ministry covers Alabama, Georgia and beyond. Grace Outreach Ministry is physically located in Roanoke.

Grace Outreach invites individuals, churches and business owners to partner with Grace Outreach by laboring alongside other volunteers to complete renovations of the Grace Outreach facilities. Those with specialty skills such as electricians, plumbers and painters are needed, as is anyone willing to do cleaning and routine lawn care.

Church families are needed to provide simple meals for Friday night family support group meetings. On a rotating basis, a roster of several churches means serving only one Friday every other month, or even less often. You could also support this ministry through one-time and/or recurring tax-deductible financial gifts to Rescue Mission of Grace, a 501c3, and a registered member of the National Christian Foundation for non-profit ministry.
