MOUNT PLEASANT - A Marietta, Ga., man drowned Saturday morning on Lake Wedowee.

Around 8:30 a.m., Randolph County Sheriff's Office received a call of a missing person on Florence Drive in Wedowee. The missing person was identified as 27-year-old Dakota Hill. Mr. Hill was last seen walking to the dock to get on a boat and had not been seen since.

Sheriff's deputies talked to neighbors and checked around the neighborhood with no success in locating Mr. Hill. Divers were called in and Randolph County Rescue Squad responded, along with the Alabama Marine Police.

While divers were searching around the dock, Mr. Hill's body was located and recovered in about 18 feet of water. Randolph County Rescue Squad utilized their new scuba gear, but this incident did not require the use of their new robot acquired earlier this summer.

According to Randolph County E-911, others responding to the call were Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Southern Ambulance Transport, Wedowee Police Department, Marine Police and EMA.
