Eleanor Pearson

(AUBURN) Eleanor Pearson, 83, of Auburn (formerly of Milltown) died Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at her residence. Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 2, at Vines Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas Jones officiating. Interment was in Providence Cemetery, Milltown.
Ms. Pearson was born July 3, 1940, to the parentage of the late Pate and Ardell Staples Pearson in Chambers County. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Wadley. Ms. Pearson attended Hopewell Junior High School and graduated from the Chambers County Training School, LaFayette in 1959. She attended and graduated from Thurston’s Business Secretarial School, Tuskegee in 1961. After graduation, she moved to Birmingham where she was gainfully employed in several positions. Eleanor returned to Chambers County in 1963 and began employment with the Auburn University Extension Service, LaFayette, as a secretary. In 1965, Eleanor became employed and worked in several positions with the Chambers, Coosa, Tallapoosa Community Action Agency where she worked for forty-two years until retirement.
Ms. Pearson is survived by her devoted son, the Rev. Pate H. Pearson (Dierdre), Chester, Va.; three sisters: Barbara Pearson Evans (Ordie), Gadsden, Della Pearson Gates (George), Columbus, Ga., and Priscella Pearson Holley, Opelika; one sister-in-law, Irene Staples Johnson of Roanoke; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
