(ROANOKE) Bert Clark Rountree, 79, of Roanoke passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023. Mr. Rountree was born Aug. 21, 1944 to the late Herbert Clark Rountree and Margie Cox Rountree. He was a graduate of Cook High School in Adel, Ga., and Troy State University, where he earned All-State accolades in high school and a football scholarship to attend college. After graduating college and his service in the Air Force, he served in several sales management roles during his career. He earned numerous awards including the National Sales Manager of the Year for Sunshine Biscuit Company.

Mr. Rountree enjoyed traveling, lake life, golf and all sports. He followed Troy University football and was a member of the Troy Athletics T-Club. He spent the last 20 years of his life with his wife Jackie and they did many of these activities together.

Survivors include his beloved wife Jackie Curlington Rountree; daughter, Casey Rountree Johnson (Joe); grandsons, Tucker Johnson and Finley Johnson; sister, Margie Rountree Parker Alderson, four nieces: Kim McCranie Dziagwa, Lynn Parker Sherwood, Julie Parker Novak and Meredith Rountree; three nephews: Beau McCranie, Doug Parker and Ashley Rountree. They, along with their children all fondly remember the comedy and antics of “Uncle Bert”, and he was very proud of all of them. He was also fortunate to have Jackie’s children, Alexander Curlington (Genia) and Melody Sanchez-Curlington (Miguel) as family with their children, Jackson, Brenlie, Sarah, Katia and Ian.

Mr. Rountree was also preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin Rountree; and sister Mary Katherine Rountree McCranie (Bill).
