Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and Dickert Volunteer Fire Department responded to a woods fire that was close to a structure on County Road 867. Property owner Christopher Shannon Allen told responders he was riding his scooter and fell while trying to put out a burn pile. The fire spread to the woods. It did not get to a building, but did get dangerously close. Allen was transported by Southern Ambulance Transport to Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center for injuries from the scooter accident.
RCSO and Dickert VFD also responded to a fire on Louina Road. The fire was approximately 50 yards by 20 yards and damaged Malcolm Rowland’s residence, boat and a large portion of woods. Rowland told responders that two days prior he had set fire to a TV box, and it had set a log on fire. He thought he had put that fire out and could not think of another cause for this fire.
