Lydia Lucille Chappell Shiflett

(WOODLAND) Funeral services for Lydia Lucille Chappell Shiflett, 98, of Woodland will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Turk Holt officiating.  Burial will follow at Taylor’s Crossroads Church of Christ Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023.

Mrs. Shiflett passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at her home.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Davis of Douglasville, Ga.; two sons, Mark Shiflett of Marietta, Ga., and Earnest Thomas “Tommy” Shiflett, Jr., (Robin) of Waynesboro, Ga.; four grandchildren, Zack Shiflett, Kristin Howard, Rachel Glover (Justin) and B. J. Davis; three great-grandchildren, Daisy Davis, Ryder Howard and Brayden Davis; and one sister, Betty Bailey of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Mark Shiflett, Tom Shiflett, Beau Rollins, Zach Shiflett, B. J. Davis and Braydon Davis.

A Chambers County native, Mrs. Shiflett was born on April 15, 1925, the daughter of Prince and Eucal Barfield Chappell.  She worked as office manager for Shiflett Electric Company before retiring.  Mrs. Shiflett was an avid gardener, seamstress, and devoted mother and grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earnest Thomas Shiflett, Sr.; and siblings, Francis Kirby, Janell Sheppard, Mildred Bonds, Charlie Chappell, Bobby Chappell, William Chappell, Sarah Hanvey and Howard Chappell.
