Agnes Minnefield

(WEDOWEE) Agnes Minnefield, 90, of Wedowee died Monday, Oct. 23, 2023. She was a daughter of Randolph County, born to the late Carl and Annie (Houston) Green on Nov. 9, 1931.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Minnefield; daughter, Susie Patricia (Trish)Turner; grandson, Michael (Beetlebug) Houston; her parents; a sister Carrie Bailey; and five brothers: James I. Green, Virgil Green, Fred Green, John Robert Green, and William Andrew Green.
At an early age, Agnes accepted Christ and married Arthur Minnefield. They had two children, Susie “Trish” and Warren.
In the 1950s Agnes and Arthur moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she was a member and board member of Canaan Baptist Church. Agnes worked at Mendenhall Cleaners for 24 years. In 1974 she accepted employmentat Wright State University where she labored for 20 years as a supervisor over housekeeping. After their retirement, in 1994 Agnes and Arthur movedback to Wedowee where she reunited with Zion Rest Baptist Church and attended faithfully until she fell ill.
Agnes is survived by her son Warren Minnefield (Julia); sisters, Naconia Robinson of Cincinnati, Ohio and Emma Jean Green of Wedowee; grandchildren Lamont Colquitt of Dayton, Ohio; Darron Houston of Columbus, Ohio; David Minnefield, of Wedowee; Barbette Baguidy (Donnie) of Rex, Ga.; Warren Minnefield, II (Karla) of Wedowee; and Deric “Chad” Minnefield of StoneMountain, Ga.; 10 great-grandchildren; and 7 great greatgrandchildren; a special great-great grandson Jay’Denn E. Minnefield; and a special nephew, Barry Thurman (Sheila) of Douglasville,GA.
A celebration of life ceremony was held Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. at Zion Rest Baptist Church in Wedowee.
