Guns seized, two arrested after reports of gunfire in Roanoke

 

Two men were arrested and three guns were seized after gunfire was reported in the area of Commerce Street and East Avenue in Roanoke Thursday.

Roanoke police were notified of a 911 call suspecting shots fired and were given the description of vehicle leaving the scene.

Officers tracked down the White Chevy Malibu described and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Park Avenue. After multiple passengers exited the car at officers’ instructions, officers searched the car and found two rifles inside, after which one of the passengers admitted to having a pistol.

Police confiscated the weapons and continued their search of the car, which resulted in several items suspected to be marijuana and marijuana related.

Maurice Cameron, 19, of Roanoke, and Robert Harris, 20, of West Point, were both arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and later released on bond.
