Betty Tarver Lyman
(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Betty Tarver Lyman, 85, of Roanoke were held on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Eric Lester officiating. Burial followed at Cedarwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Lyman passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Survivors include: one niece, Nanette Palmer of Brandon, Miss.; three nephews, Mark Dendinger (Lavina) of Atlanta, John Dendinger of Madisonville, La., and Gregory Dendinger (Jennifer) of Wedowee; four great-nephews, three great-nieces, and four great-great-nieces; and neighbor and good friend, Paula Lambert of Roanoke.
Pallbearers were Greg Dendinger, Mark Dendinger and Nathaniel Morrow.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Lyman was born on Aug. 1, 1938, the daughter of Taft and Mary Lee Buchanan Tarver. She was a member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Chambers County and worked as a bookkeeper for Ace Home Center. After her retirement from Ace, Mrs. Lyman worked at Happy Trails as a greeter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lynard C. Lyman; and a sister, Catherine Dendinger.
