Four-year-old okay after being left in van at daycare

Reports are for period ending September 4th

The parent of two boys who attend Rock Mills Daycare said when she picked them up on Friday, the owner told her that her 4-year-old had accidentally been left buckled up in the daycare van all day. She took the boy to Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center to be checked out, and they cleared him of any medical issues.

RCSO was notified that a Rock Mills Junior High School student included a terroristic threat in the content of an assignment last week. The principal handled the matter according to Randolph County Schools’ Code of Conduct, and the student’s parent was notified. A threat assessment was not deemed necessary at this time.

A tractor sprayer was reported stolen on Sept. 1 on County Road 512 at Hawk.

The neighbor of a homeowner on County Road 32 in the Mount Pleasant community notified him that someone was at his house loading items onto a trailer on Sept. 1.

A resident of County Road 56 in the Napoleon community was attacked by a dog while out for a walk on Saturday. Her neighbor’s dog came up with a second dog she had never seen before, and the second dog attacked her. The neighbor drove her to Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

Foster’s Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call on Saturday at 2:11 p.m. on County Road 88. The fire, which was reported by a passerby, appeared to have started near the refrigerator. The property owner is William Lamar Brooks of Hogansville, Ga.

A property owner on County Road 340 at Omaha notified RCSO on Saturday that dogs have been killing his cattle. He showed deputies a deceased calf and had photos of five more cows that had been killed and mutilated by the dogs. The man had killed one dog that he caught in the act, but there are more. The property owner was informed that while there is no leash law in the rural areas of the county, he does have a right to protect his property.

The Sims family of Old Highway 431 at Folsom was awakened at about 4:30 Sunday morning when a truck crashed through their fence and into their swimming pool. The driver, Luis Mejai, 25, of Newell was arrested and charged with DUI.

A vehicle owner who was attending a bonfire Saturday night in the Gray Hill community reported that two juvenile males threw rocks at her Honda Civic when she and her friends left the bonfire, causing damage to her car.

A light gray 4×4 truck with a toolbox was reported stolen on Sunday on County Road 82 near Morrison’s Crossroads.

A 16-year-old boy from Smyrna, Ga., was treated on Sunday at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his foot. The victim told responders he was helping with work at the barn and went to step down from a raised area to grab a tool when the 9mm handgun discharged inside his pocket. The incident happened on County Road 92 at Newell.

A mailbox was reported stolen on County Road 110 near Graham on Sunday.

A resident of Highway 48 near Graham reported that two Sea-Doos that were parked in his driveway for sale were stolen on Monday. They were subsequently recovered in Carroll County, Ga.

A resident of Highway 48 in Woodland reported on Monday that he was struck in the arm with pellets from a shotgun when his neighbor was having a dove hunt. Robert Newborn was in his workshop when he was hit and said he could hear the pellets hitting the roof of the shop and nearby campers.

A mobile home on County Road 7 in the Foster’s Crossroads area was fully engulfed when RCSO and firefighters arrived around 1:30 a.m. on August 30. The property owner is Stephanie Cobb, but no one was inside at the time of the fire.

A resident of County Road 87 near Springfield reported the theft of a Tracfone.

A black 2016 Chevrolet Silverado was reported stolen from Pinetucky Lane.
