City board holds called meeting

Roanoke City Board of Education met in a called meeting to inch closer to filling all positions for the new school year. The board approved the following personnel upon recommendation of Superintendent Greg Foster:

New hire- Certified: Elyssa Johnson as PreK Teacher at Knight Enloe Elementary. Non-Certified: Tierny Foster as PreK Auxiliary Teacher at Knight Enloe and Sonya Waller as PreK Auxiliary Teacher at Knight Enloe Elementary.

Contractural: Pay Cindy Camp, ASL Interpreter, $65 per hour plus mileage

for services to meet IDEA Federal guidelines and requirements not to exceed $1,000

during the 2023-24 school year. The funding source will be IDEA-B, IDEA-Preschool,

ARP-Special Education, and/or general fund and pay Shareeka Chapel $30 per hour at ten hours per week to teach art at Knight Enloe on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each week. Funding will come from the Arts Grant.
