County school board continues to staff schools

At last Thursday’s meeting of Randolph County School Board, the board continued to hire personnel for the upcoming school year. Following recommendations by Superintendent John Jacobs the board approved the following:

  • Donna Moates as Substitute Support Personnel.
  • Ezell Potter as a substitute bus driver.
  • Rescind the recommendation for Adam Butler. effective immediately.
  • Rescind the recommendation for Lauryn Hall, effective immediately.
  • Approve Maranda Miller as bus driver for RCHS/WES/WMS effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Approve Brittany Johnson as bus driver for RCHS/WES/WMS effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Approve April Cox as bus driver for Wadley High School effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Approve the transfer request of Matthew Fendley from paraprofessional at Wadley to itinerant paraprofessional at RCHS/Wedowee Middle School, effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Accept the resignation of Rodney Berryhill, custodian at Rock Mills Junior High School, effective July 3, 2023.
  • Approve Jennifer Robertson as Career Coach at RRCTC, effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Approve Hailey Neal, as CNP worker at Woodland High/Elementary Schools, effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Extend the FMLA for Lisa Monroe, through September 22, 2023.
  • Approve Keely Summerour as custodian at Rock Mills Jr. High School, effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Approve Camryn Arrington as Pre-K auxiliary teacher at Woodland
  • Elementary School, effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Approve Jayla Noles Benefield as English/ ELA teacher at RCHS,  effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Approve Robert Dorch as Social Studies teacher at RCHS, effective with the 2023-2024 school year.
  • Approve the probationary contract of Amy Richardson, principal at Rock Mills Jr. High School.
  • Approve the Advanced TEAMS (3-year) contract for Lauren Dukus,
  • Science Teacher 7-12 at Woodland High School.
  • Approve the Advanced TEAMS (3-year) contract for Melody Holden,
  • Math Teacher 7-12 at Woodland High School.
  • Approve the Advanced TEAMS (3-year) contract for Hannah Womack,
  • Science Teacher 7-12 at Randolph County High School.

In other business, the board:

  • Heard a presentation from Alabama Power about an LED lighting proposal that could save the school system a considerable amount of money.
  • Heard the annual report of physical restraint with only one case reported.
  • Approved the lunch and breakfast prices for employees and guest at the following rates for the 2023-2024 school year: Lunch-paid; employees $4.35, guest $4.50 and breakfast-paid; employees $2.85, guest $3.00
  • Approved the out of state field trip for RCHS football players to Six Flags
  • over Georgia on July 27, 2023 as reward for attending summer workouts.
  • Was presented a new policy for booster clubs, school sponsored, and other affiliated organizations. The board will approve the policy at their next meeting. It was noted that all clubs must have a yearly audit.
  • Heard from Superintendent Jacobs the construction at Wadley, Rock Mills and Woodland would be completed soon.
