Leadership Randolph County now taking applications
The Randolph County Chamber of Commerce, Randolph County Extension System and Southern Union State Community College are sponsors for Leadership Randolph County, a program to help identify and educate potential leaders for our communities and county.
Sessions will be conducted on the second Thursday of each month, typically from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. from September 2023 through May 2024 and will include presentations on leadership, history of Randolph County, education, economic and industrial development, law enforcement and the legal system, community services, and state and local government. Sessions will also include field trips and bus tours.
This program is open to anyone interested in developing or expanding their leadership skills, networking with other community leaders, and learning more about the county. Applications are available at the Chamber of Commerce Office, the Extension Office and Southern Union State Community College.
Applications will be accepted through Friday, August 18, 2023, with the first class to be held Thursday, September 14, 2023. Completed applications should be returned to the Randolph County Extension Office, P. O. Box 227, Wedowee, Alabama 36278.
The cost of the program is $250 per participant.
The program’s steering committee members will review all applications and select 25 program participants representative of Randolph County’s geographic areas, professional categories, and general public.
Program participants must attend the September and May sessions and must not miss more than one session during the year in order to graduate from the leadership program. Participants also participate in a group project which includes written and verbal presentations. Topics and committee assignments will be made at the October session for presentations at the April session.
Leadership Randolph County is led by a Steering Committee made up of LRC alumni. Co-directors of the program are Tiffany Moore, Dorothy Tidwell, and Abra Camp.
