Anthony Wright, Jr.
(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Anthony Wright, Jr., 84, of Wedowee will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Dukus officiating. Burial will follow at Skyview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 25.
Mr. Wright passed away Tuesday, June 20, in Woodland.
Survivors include: two daughters, Rhonda Glenn of Woodland and Christine Baggin (Semmie) of Roanoke; two sons, Fred Wright of Atlanta, and Jesse Wright (Tabatha) of Wedowee; five stepdaughters, Shirley Hudson (Robbie) of Bowdon, Ga., Sarah Nunn of Roanoke, Polly Nunn of Anniston, Kathy Trammell of Roanoke, and Alma Nunn of LaGrange, Ga.; five stepsons, Ralph Nunn of Roanoke, R. C. Nunn of Bowdon, Steve Nunn of Tuscaloosa, Meechie Nunn of Arkansas, and Kevin Nunn (Nickie) of Wedowee; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Ann Barsh of Wedowee; and two brothers, David Wright (Queenie) of Wedowee and Charles Wright of Roanoke.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Wright was born on March 19, 1939, the son of Anthony Wright, Sr., and Velma Houston Wright. He was a member of Turnaround Christian Center and was a retired mason. Mr. Wright enjoyed going to K&L in Woodland daily to visit his friends for coffee. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Wright; one daughter, Dorothy Jean Wright; three brothers, Jimmy Wright, James Wright, and William Wright; and two sisters, Lera Robinson and Minnie Ethel Goodwin.
