Joseph Christopher Corson

(WEDOWEE) A Celebration of the life of Joseph Christopher Corson will be held Saturday June 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Wedowee. The Rev. Todd Noren-Hentz and the Rev. Jon Tal Murphree will be officiating. After a long and valiant struggle against pancreatic cancer, Chris passed away on Sunday, June 4. He was 62 years old.

Chris was the owner of Corson Contractors and was well known and well loved in this area and beyond. He often did volunteer work to help those in need including building the first school building that Quesimpuco, a remote village in the Andes of Bolivia, had ever had. He also raised Dexter cattle and had a mini Shitake mushroom farm.

Chris is the son of Ken and Sarah Corson, of Wedowee. Survivors include his parents, one son David Hobart (Mary); two grandchildren, Sanders Hobart, and Winnie Wren of Wedowee and Chattanooga; one brother, Tom Corson (Dyla) of Wedowee; and two sisters, Kathy Bryson of Wedowee and Costa Rica and Karen Corson of Wedowee and Cambodia. Chris also has 15 nieces and nephews with their spouses: Brianna Bryson, (Andy) Jennessa Bryson, Luci Bryson, Evie Bryson, Josiah Corson, (Caroline), Sarah Wynn Simms, (Nick), Samuel Corson, (Libba), Brayan Corson, (Magaly), Tito Corson, (Courtney); and three great-nephews, Santiago, Olliver and Otto. He has three surviving uncles, Jon Tal Murphree (Sheila), Wallace Murphree ( Martha) and Quincy Murphree (Dianne); a host of cousins and a special friend, Joyce Blair. One uncle, Phil Murphree preceded him in death.

Chris was an active member of First United Methodist Church. He served a term as president of Methodist Men. Chris will be greatly missed by his family, his church and his community.
