County commission hires new engineer

At Monday’s meeting of Randolph County Commission, the commission voted to hire the former assistant engineer as the county engineer. Justin Rush who served as assistant under former engineer Burrell Jones will take over the reigns of the county highway department. After the vote, each commissioner commented on how Rush was familiar with the system, the county roads and his professionalism as a civil engineer. Rush’s contract will go through 2028.

In other business, the commission:

– Awarded the annual contract for concrete pipe to the only bidder, Foley Products.

– Approved a resolution to add an amendment to the 1992 unit system plan.

– Approved for the chairman to execute an agreement with ADECA for technical assistance services to implement the Alabama Community Broadband technical assistance program project.
