Charles Anthony Sheppard

(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Charles Anthony Sheppard, 66, of Roanoke were held on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeremy Sheppard, Bro. Paul Sheppard and Bro. Scott Hannah officiating. Burial followed at Bethel Church Cemetery in Welch.

Mr. Sheppard passed away Thursday, May 18, in Rock Mills from injuries he suffered from an accident at work.

Survivors include his wife, LaVelle Gauntt Sheppard, of Roanoke; daughter, Nikki (Terry) Queen of Woodland; two sons, Charles “Chuck” Sheppard, II (Nicole) of Woodland and Eric Sheppard of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Isaac Sheppard, Hailey Sheppard, Liam Sheppard, Jaydon Meadows and Ethan Steel; sister, Sybil Flake (Jim) of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers, Paul Sheppard (Kathy) of West Point, Ga. and Nathan Sheppard of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Wanda Winkles. 

Pallbearers were Jaiden Meadows, Ethan Steel, Sam Shelnutt, Frank Del Valle, Don McManus and Jake Miller.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Sheppard was born on Feb. 12, 1957, the son of Street and Lula Mae Edmondson Sheppard. Mr. Sheppard was self-employed as a carpenter all his life and he took great pride in his work. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jo Ann Cantrell; and three brothers, Larry Sheppard, Mike Sheppard and Dudley Smith.

Memorials may be floral or the family requests donations be made to Roanoke First Baptist Church in Mr. Sheppard’s memory.
